Going over the top
No matter what the thoughts are on gambling being good or bad there are always going to be those who will go over the top in making the practice seem like the worst of the worst things that people can do. There are also those who play it up to be a whole lot better than what it really is. Where is the happy medium? Where is the truth in all of this? People can make up their own minds when presented with facts.
The days of everyone deciding things for themselves and others being ok with it seem to be long gone. There was once a time when everyone was entitled to their opinion without fear of major backlash. These days are long past but even though most cannot speak their mind without backlash, opinions based on truth are still there.
So who do people listen to? With so much spin in writing and in the broadcast media these days it is really hard to tell who is telling the truth and who is sensationalizing things just to manipulate people into their line of thinking. This practice is becoming more and more apparent as time goes on. It seems like every day, regardless of the subject, we hear spin and if we want the truth we have to seek it out.
If people were to make their own choices and were allowed to vote on the issues as they see them and not how others see them, then more things could be accomplished that would do more good in the world. As it is, people are inundated with so much information, both true and untrue from both sides of debates, that they really have to sift through a lot of junk to get down to the truth. And truth is what everyone wants.
In the near future there is going to be more spin and more nonsense being brought to the forefront as the debate over online casinos gains more ground. Debating is fine as long as it is done with the facts being presents. When fear mongering is brought in or overzealous promises made people get confused and have a hard time making the decisions that are right for them.
